well there is a cheaper plan that can help… and that is the tracfone.. they hav cell phones such as razr for 50 dollars and it is prepaid.. the special thing about this plan is that the rates are the same for all international phones becus wen i called pakistan.. i was still charged the same rate for text and calls… hope this helps

Is there any monthly plan from which I can call to one and only one number for cheap?
I remember there was one 35$ plan from which only one number calling in India was unlimited.. but I dont remember the name of service provider..can anyone help??

You have to be careful with voip companies. A couple of them have been in the business for a while and are good.

Start ec has a great international rates including for the philipines.

Best part you can also use it on your cell phone.

If you use vonage, several countries are free.. and of course skype too.

Skype works great for me. Yesterday I talked to my brother in Albuquerque, New Mexico from Alberta, Canada for over 1.5 hours with perfect voice quality..... and it was all free Skype-Skype, PC-PC.
We both also have SkypePro with unlimited Skype-to-PSTN land phone calling for $3/month for unlimited USA/Canada calling too.

But, calling to Philippines is not cheap if you are calling to PSTN landlines (and much worse to cells).

Cheapest "VoIP rate" to Philippines landline I have seen is with CallCentric at 12.9 cent/min.
They have free down-loadable soft-phone - nothing to buy, no contracts and only pay-as-you-go calling... no gimmicks or hidden fees.
Call anywhere USA/Canada for 1.98 cent/min.
They are also BYOD, meaning you can use another configurable soft-phone or your own configurable ATA phone adapter. .... and FREE In-Network calling between account holders.... just like Skype.

And, for those who are Bandwidth Challenged, CallCentric soft-phone will work over PC with a "Dial-up" Internet connection, as well as highspeed.... not many VoIP services can claim that...

What do you think is the best VOIP service ? I have Skype but am curious as to which is the cheapest. I am trying to calling around then US and Canada as well as International calls to the Philippines. I mostly want a teen line but a good International number wouldnt be bad either.
